The Little Things

by Amanda Bee   May 25, 2005

Not one to really desire life’s finer things
Don’t really have a need for diamond rings
Just want someone who’ll stand by me, close
Who knows those little things, they mean the most

Stays to talk for just a minute more
Offers to hold open that swinging door
Flashes you a smile while passing by
Appreciates your efforts and your tries

Puts an arm around you in the car
Calls at home to find out how you are
Listens to you complain about your day
Always knows exactly what to say

Lets you know you’re often on his mind
Finds a way to make quality time
Trusts in you completely, without a doubt
Opens the door when the world just shuts you out

Loves the way you tend to twirl your hair
Senses when your heart’s full of despair
Strokes your back in that absentminded way
Revives you when your faith begins to sway

Knows that you hate your eggs sunny side
Available with his arms spread, opened wide
Regards each one of your opinions as paramount
And recognizes that it’s those little things that count
