My Treasures

by Ann Stareyes   May 27, 2005

Many memento's I've kept
All down through the years
When I look back on them
Some bring me to tears.

Things the kids made in school
Especially for Mother's Day
Today they still touch my heart
In a very special way.

I still have their first outfit
They wore home when they were born
Their first little baby shoes
That I simply adore.

I have their ball jerseys
They wore when they were young
I remember all the fun they had
I was proud they were "My Sons."

I still have my high school annual
From all those years ago
When I walk through the pages
The tears begin to flow.

I remember my classmates
And the fun that we all had
We knew our lives would separate
And saying good-bye was truly sad.

These are a few things I've kept
That I've stored in my old trunk
Things that mean so much to me
Where others might think was junk.
