Cancer Near My Heart (Acrostic)

by Nici   May 30, 2005

By the end of this long journey I want to find a cure
Rejoice in fighting cancer that I’ve had to endure
Eventually I’ll conquer this disease that they have found
And carry on with life, get my feet back on the ground
Still I have my doubts, how will I know for sure
That my cancer has not spread through my body even more

Cuddled up close, to my friend I hold so dear
Always wishing that her grip will wipe away my fear
Not knowing what will happen when my treatments start
Constantly reminded of the cancer near my heart
Ever wondering when I’ll stop from crying all these tears
Really looking forward to hearing the words ‘your all clear’

* I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer 11/05/05 aged 18 years and 10 months. This is the first poem I have wrote about my cancer and it is in the form of an acrostic poem.
