You Were The Guilty and The Innocent

by Jenn   Jun 14, 2005

You were the guilty and the innocent
victim or criminal you could not choose
into another world your body went
when all of your hope you'd suddenly lose
no one else could have known that you struggled
that you did not give up until the end
a black plague inside your heart that smuggled
all the light in you and made you pretend
life was not worth it; but I know you tried
you tried to stop it on the rocky edge
maybe if I helped you woukd not have died
how must I live with that saddening pledge
if only God could drink up the whole sea
he could spit you out and right back to me
