Your perfect face,
Your lavishing smile,
You lie safe behind,
Our eyes scarred by lies,

Your paper face,
Your cardboard stare,
Your plastic smile,
You remain so fair,

We stare at you
With wanting eyes,
Your cautious perfection,
Kept us so blind,

We lie torn by envy,
Unreasoned by reason,
Our souls are so dank,
That we stare down at treason;

Wishing, hoping,
That it could be ours,
Our reality to share,
Begging, pleading: that it'd be ours to own.

We could swim alive
In this fantastic dream
Our own cold reality,
Was to harsh to believe

Until the deafening silence broke
One could not conceive
The words which rung out
Through the depths of our own oblivion:

"Its just an ad."

Oh Julia, this is fantastic. I love the line where you talk about swimming alive in the dream. That just blew me away. Gorgeous poem. One thing, "add" should only have one 'd'.
