The Guard of Your Heart

by Steve   Jun 27, 2005

O long lost love of mine
If to you I wear rusted armor
Than rusted armor is what i'll wear
To defend your honor with my last breath
No foe too strong, no knave too sly
To insult my love and go unpunished.
For my love, you are an angel
The one I've prayed for since before i could walk.
The world may not notice who you are
Even you may not notice who you are,
But I know all too well.
I see in you what you hide from the world,
The love you felt too painful to feel again.
Thats why I'm here, rusted armor and all,
Not to gain access to your heart,
But to protect it from more anguish.
But alas, I am not a real person
I'm but a figment of your hopes
Protecting you from what you hear
Protecting you from your worst fear
The fear of being alone forever.
