"Still only a friend"

The hardest thing my poor heart,
Has ever had to endure,
Is sitting back here silently,
Watching you fall in love with her.

Wishing every moment,
That I could take her place,
I’m tired of sleeping every night,
Only dreaming of your face.

Its to painful to keep doing this,
I cant keep being “just the friend”,
When im falling this crazy for you,
It gets hard to pretend.

But you know I would do anything,
Just to see you smile,
Knowing she makes you this happy,
Makes this worth all the while.

So I’ll keep my opinions closed,
Lock my love down deep inside,
Just to be your friend,
All this ill work so hard to hide.

Then when I go to bed at night,
I’ll get on my knees and pray,
That tomorrow will be different,
You’ll look at me in a new way.

That you’ll see not just your friend,
But someone who has loved you all this time,
That you’ll hold me in your arms,
That one day... you’ll be mine..
