To let go ©

"To let go" ©

Rain slaps against the sidewalk,
Wind tossels her brown hair,
She doesnt know where shes going,
Only that she'd rather be anywhere.

Down through the street in silence,
Walking like a shadow on the wall,
Dressed completely in black,
Most people dont see her at all.

She hides who she is inside,
Behind everything she shows,
Black disguises who she is,
The hair in her eyes, hides the girl everyone knows,

Keeping half her face hidden,
Behind brunette locks,
She makes sure no one can see the tears,
And tries to speed up her walk.

Down one more back ally way,
Rain mixes with tears as she goes,
Avoiding the eyes of strangers,
She's finally almost home.

Yet even after locking the door,
And tossing her black coat aside,
She still cant seem to escape,
All that’s eating her up inside.

She walks straight to her room,
And locks the door behind,
She turns the music up,
But still she feels confined.

After turning off the music,
She still cant feel a thing,
The only thing that will register,
Is the sound of pouring rain,

Throwing open the windows,
She leans out, almost to far,
Trying to find her self,
She's trapped behind her own bars.

Slowly she leans out farther,
Wishing for once she felt more than pain,
Until finally its to much,
She's lost it all again.

This time shes letting go,
Of the window sill and all,
and from the very top floor,
She'll take her final fall.

The last thing she'll remember,
As on the cement her heart beat slows,
Is that for once she felt more than pain,
She felt what it was like to let go.

I agree with "Apathetic Soul"- it's a bit repetitive but it's still a piece of art. I LOVE IT!!! Check out some of my poems and please comment and rate to let me know what yo think. PEACE
