On the Other Side

by Jordan Peterson   Jul 2, 2005

If only i could have seen it coming
what would be different
had i kept running
i cannot hide my hurt
beneath a smile
only remember,
strength does not come hand in hand with denial
i cannot pretend
that my pain is not real
there is not going back
you broke the deal
you cannot return,
what hasn't been taken
my love for you
has been forsaken
i cannot put on a painted face
to hide the tears
i have got to overcome
my very deepest fears
you are not a bad person
though some may believe
i do not wish you hurt
i do not wish you grief
i only wish rather soon than late
that in your life
you may find happiness
while gaining perspective
and forgetting to hate
so take these words
into consideration
when the world walks out
a friend will walk in
when you are stuck in doubt
suspicion begins
don't forget to trust
and don't forget to love
overcome your wrongdoings
and believe the other person
because in the end,
sorrow endowed,
they only want to make you proud.
