The past?

All the hardships
that pass us by
are simply relentless
yet i know why
the way u look at me
with scorn
all the things
i've done with u
seem only but a dream
being cast away by
the peaceful ebbing tides
of humanity.
to you all this
is none but fear?
but listen for a moment, for this u
may wish to hear.
at times i am
so lonely
that my friend is but
a simple shadow upon
my wall in
my sad lonely corner
of the earth
where the ocean meets the sky
and bids it away
with an unfriendly welcome.
some things are not
as they appear for
it is me u have
utterly misjudged
the way that
u comforted me
when we were out
in the cold.
and the way u
held me when the
world seemed to collapse
upon its very self
in pure disgust.
the way u laughed
and the looks u sneak
don't u think i notice
in the very least?
how you misunderstood
is painful
for my very soul rested in ur hands
now u see
that i am happy
and cheer
has fought its
way back to sustain me
once more.
if only u had listened.

perhaps one day
again our eyes
shall meet
and away
will the shadows
slink,
or will they
be revealed?
