What went wrong?

We started out,
As great as can be.
I loved you,
And you loved me.
We hugged and kissed,
As all couples do.
What went wrong?
Was it me or you?
Did I make you mad,
To the point of no end?
To deserve all the bruises
That you would always send.
Or was it for love.
That you hit me so hard.
To protect me from danger.
And be my guard.
Did you love me so much,
You’d do it all.
To protect me from the shit.
That would soon make me fall.
The cutting, the starving,
And the popping of pills.
To know it was me,
It just kills.
It kills all the love,
With the bruises and all.
I don’t care what we had.
I just wish you would call.
Call and come back.
That’s what I want of you.
I never asked for much....
Baby I miss you too!
