It Was

by Noah Alyn   Jul 6, 2005

It was simple, it was perfect, it was positively sweet
The looks he gave her each time they greet
It was her, it was him, it was everything in between
How could her heart be so crazy and on him be so keen
He loved her, he lost for her, he’d never been so swept
She missed him, she cried for him, she’d never felt so strong
All the tears that were wept
Almost as if their perfect love was somehow wrong
And the days went by, the weeks drift, the months added up
Her heart needed some assurance on which to sup
Honesty was fleeing, the heart can take so much
The distance spaced between them was a barrier
Time was the carrier
Of the aching breaking them apart
Their love had, had such a great start
It killed them, it broke them, it was an uncounted defeat
Who thought such a relationship could end up so beat
She’d comforted him, she’d stolen for him, she’d given up it all
He’d consoled her, he’d fought for her, he’d lost everything
She took such a fall
He knew he’d never feel his heart again ring
It’d been crazy, it’d been fun, it’d been great while it last
But it seemed their love had been taken so fast
She cried, he broke down, their relationship lay in shambles
It was heartbreaking, it was wrenching, it tore both
When such a strong feeling of such a strong oath
Just broke
In tears; soak
In cries; deafening
In hearts; torn
It couldn’t take the thick thorn
And spread of impurity it’d caught
It was passionate, it was amorous,
It was gone
Left only as a glimmer of their once true love....
