Whispers

by Noah Alyn   Jul 6, 2005

It started as a whisper
Just a glow of something beyond
A small chorus of voices reaching out to her
They filled her head with confusion
She couldn’t seem to decipher the delusion
And they angered her to tears
As she recalled all her fears
Across her few years
She tried to scream them out
Her voice shook and it shout
Till her body shook without air
The voices sink into their lair
Her days continued slowly
And she sank into the crowd lowly
Finally she was noticed no more
She stood lonely
With only the voices shaking at her door
Using her bare hands she attempted strangling
But you cannot kill yourself by wrangling
And so she grew more crazed as the voices told her words
And the words formed sentences, and paragraphs, and thoughts
She killed to finally reach the truth she sought
Her mind couldn’t be trusted
So finally she did it
With a rope tied tight on her neck
Her hair and face, her mind - just a total wreck
The jump was made
The decision not to be saved
So the voices died
And they buried her on a rainy day
In just a whisper of a sigh
If only she’d have found another way
The rain poured
And the wind shook through the trees
The earth closed around her
And everything she sees
Until at last the ground buried her
With all the secrets and storms of thoughts
So she could rest in partial peace,
From everything she heard
…and so died out, each haunting word.
