Butterfly

by AshBnash   Jul 9, 2005

This butterfly was pretty to see,
but hard to catch
they all just let her be,
cuz she hated to be attached.

She never saw her true beauty
She stayed in a corner alone
she could be moody
her inner beauty unknown.

but then one day of fate
came a fine young lad.
He would just sit and wait
for her to make him glad.

She dove and fluttered away,
then came back for a closer look.
She watched, then decided to stay,
and watched as her heart he took.

She was reluctant at first,
not wanting to get hurt.
She seemed to be cursed,
her life a desert.

But he took her by the heart
and showed her how to love,
she never wanted to depart,
cuz he was sent from above.

But one day he let her go,
he had been keeping things from her.
He didn't want her to know,
he didn't want it to reoccur.

She had to know why,
what she had done wrong.
They both had a good cry,
neither of them acting strong.

he told her what he had been doing
and promised he would quit.
Their relationship started renewing,
and soon it was reknit.

She put it in the back of her mind,
and thought it was solved.
But they were both blind,
the problem hadn't been dissolved.

About a month later
he let her go for real.
He felt like a traitor,
and had to reveal.

She felt so lost,
she just waited and prayed.
By the wind she was tossed,
but around him she stayed.

She had to dodge those
who thought her to be easily healed.
She loved him, that's what she chose,
and to others she wouldn't yield.

She couldn't stand
to see him sad
so she reached out her hand
to the young depressed lad.

But he just pushed her away even more,
but still she stayed
even though it was a chore,
giving up was not a game she played.

He finally came to see
that he needed her in his life
He asked her with a plea
to forgive him of all the strife.

She let him back into her arms,
and to this day
there have been to alarms,
and they both stay.

She is happier now,
than ever before,
she doesn't know how,
but she feels she can soar.

She finally sees the beauty within,
oh what a pretty sight!
She loves to laugh and grin
when she sees her inner light.

wow. im glad you are happy. that makes me happy. i love the way you used a butterfly to describe her; once a cacoon, sleeping, waiting to blossom, then turned into a beautiful butterfly... i never thought of it that way. i love you ashley!
