The Queen of Second Chances

by Tashan   Jul 11, 2005

She’d never make it big in life
At least that’s what they thought
She made mistakes that were sizeable
But she got a second shot

She failed in school almost every year
And they never understood why
But it always turned out, it’s unknown how,
That she got a second try

There were many times she would decide
To take a positive stance
But it never lasted, she repeated mistakes
Yet she got a second chance

But second chances only last so long
Until they’re all burned out
And eventually she learned they’re miniscule things
That she could succeed without

When it all clicked in, how she suffered so
She decided to change her ways
She set a goal to never repeat
Her mistakes in her high school days

When she finally decided to take a stand
She saw her life start to change
Her goals and dreams and ambitions too
Began to seem more in range

The people around her wondered why
She took so long to clue in
But sometimes it takes a series of mistakes
To see what you could have been

So this is her story, a lesson learned
About second chances and what they do
You may foolishly think they’ll always be there
But when they’re gone, it’s all up to you
