TO MY GRANDMOTHER

Roshan Hira (Jan 1, 1924-Feb 20, 2006)

A sister, a mother, a grandmother too
These are just some of the titles for you
A flower, an angel, a woman so strong
A person who never did any wrong

The shelter provided for all of us
The caring voice and sweetest touch
The shoulder we took turns leaning on
The world's definition of the greatest mom

Your gentle spirit arose from within
The game of life, we knew you'd win
There wasn't anything you wouldn't do
For your friends and family who all loved you

You lived a good life, long enough
To see your children grow
You saw your grandkids all turn sixteen
You were the foundation below

Your helping hand was always there
Waiting for us to grasp
A patient hand and steady too
Would wait for us to clasp

Once you held on, you never let go
That spirit you took to the end
You fought to hold on, like you always did
And I know that force will transcend

You were loved and adored by those you knew
And no one can compare
You were one of a kind, a special kind
A diamond so very rare

There aren't many people who can say:
They lived their life so well
You've left us memories we can never forget
Which forever, we'll live to tell
