The Dreamless Sleep

by David   Jul 13, 2005

When all things done are lost and said,
When troubles die and debts are paid,
The dreamless sleep will come.

It’s always there, in the lofty air.
Never close, but always there.
The dreamless sleep will come.

You never know what it may bring,
Whether soft or if it stings.
The dreamless sleep will come.

You cannot run, it’s everywhere.
In every place you try to bear.
The dreamless sleep will come.

And if you hide, and shake in fear,
It will come, but you wouldn’t hear,
The dreamless sleep will come.

And if you cry, and sob with pain,
It will come, and be your bane,
The dreamless sleep will come.

You can try to hold it back,
But there’s nothing you can do.

It will come, and there you’ll be,
It will come and swallow you.

The dreamless sleep will come.

Just close your eyes and do not fear,
Because the dreamless sleep is here.
