My World

by Hannah Leigh Pate   Jul 16, 2005

This is the world I built myself in.
Where the ceiling has no end.
And where the walls the bleed.
But only when I’m in need.
The place to go to escape.
A galaxy to mend my heart break.
Or an area to get away.
That’s where I wait everyday.

My world, come and save me.
To find it, open your eyes and see.
I’ll be waiting for you to care.
When you enter, beware.
You’ll find bleeding walls.
And hear painful calls.
I’ll be hiding in plain sight.
But you can’t see, there’s no light.

It’s all entirely pitch black.
There is no turning back.
Once you enter, your life ends.
And your resurrection begins.
You’ll discover what I already knew.
And realize I’m not perfect for you.
But if you really want to see me.
Pay attention and listen closely…

Hear the shouts, and feel the pain.
Follow instinct and find the rain.
You’ll smell blood and see nothing.
But to find me it’ll mean everything.

But remember, I’m the grieving girl,
Lost inside her own pretend world.
