Bouquet of Broken Flowers {edited}

by EpithetPoet   Jul 17, 2005

In a place with no water
A flower will die and turn to dust
I feel the same occurring to me
In a friendship without trust

A dictionary quote would tell you
That trust is vital in a friend
Without having someone to rely on
The friendship is doomed to end

In a place with no air
A flower withers and lies bare
I feel the same pounding on me
In a friendship without care

I feel you looking at me
But there's nothing really there
Only selfish thoughts and feelings
A shallow shell without a care

In a place with no dirt
A flower will cease to exist
I feel the same thing in this
A 'friendship' that wont be missed

I've spent so much time with you
Rectified every problem, blotted every tear
But when it came to my turn
You were never there

Our once beautiful flower
Lies shriveled, dead, consumed
And as each sad petal falls
A remnant of a friendship once bloomed

My bouquet of broken flowers....

wow this is good. the cliffhanger meter at the end - it really leaves the audience feeling 'filled' with the 'empty' empathy that one is likely to feel.

hats off to you ... keep writing.

    5/5
