Society's Flawed Perspective Of "Perfect"

by beautyisnomore   Jul 20, 2005

P.S. This poem is dedicated to my friend, Casey, who was an anorexic. I do send out a message in this poem : Be how you are. Don't let society and the media tell you what you need to look like. I learned that the hard way.

Today's media
toady's society,
everything
is major.

Hi!
my name is Ashley,
and I am
anorexic!

Yeah, I know
it's a deadly disease,
but if you wanna be anything
you've gotta be skin and bone.

So go ahead
starve yourself,
until you can see
your ribs.

Until you look
like a rail,
it's a slow and painful death
but it's worth it!

Just look at me
I've got cash,
the best of everything
I'm rich and I'm happy!

People will want you
to model their clothes,
be in their films and
be your friend.

Take this advice
and you'll be,
the next
big thing!
