The Run

by Mandy Lou   Jul 23, 2005

A tear betrays
My unspoken promise
To never let you hurt me
But even the strongest of hearts,
Could not stand against thee

Words keep coming
Hungry fingers reaching
Tearing bits of me away
My fragile heart can take no more
My legs quiver, I begin to sway

Blow after blow
Yours words take their toll
Killing my spirit, breaking my heart
Taking back the things you said
Tearing small bits left apart

Mind seeks shelter
The darkest depths of my soul
It hides from you, the pain you cause
My heart is left unsheltered
From your unrelenting claws

Tear my heart apart
You have no problem hurting me
It's frail and breaks under your hand
You shatter my heart then search for my mind
I can no longer, on my own, stand

My mind's running
Running in confusing circles
With no place left to hide
It retreats back to a corner
The darkest it could find

**Please read part two! "The End" Thanks so much!**
