The Letter

by AlchemistEdwardElricImpersonater   Jul 28, 2005

This is just a letter, that and nothing more,
It's just a small reminder of our love that is no more.
I wrote this to ensure that I never would I forget,
The pain you caused within me, when you said that you regret.
The first line is for all the times that we could have said our love,
The second for the time wasted when my feelings were un-dug.
And all the time that this was true, I thought that it could be,
I was ignorant, and selfish for our love that was never meant to be.
And still today do I hope that this was all but bliss,
Shudder every time you smile and place on me a kiss.
Its still hard to imagine that I have to let you go,
But this boat ain't rocking smooth, splashing to and fro.
We both know its for the better, if you throw me off as bait,
Cause ain't a damn thing working out with our love at this rate.
And as I write the final line, I say it all aloud,
"Dear charming lover, this is it. Our young roses have been plowed..."
"Understand that I can no longer take hold of this life,
And as I see, you can no longer kiss away the strife."
So as it goes the lovers left deep within their despair,
This only goes to show you, that this life just ain't fair.
As for the letter sealed with a kiss, her one and only token.
It was left right there on the table... never to be opened.
