The wonders of Mother Earth

by silverwoulfe   Jul 29, 2005

Bask in the warmth of the sunshine
rejoice in its golden light
gaze in wonder at the beauty of the sunset
cherish the stillness of the night

watch the dawn turn to sunrise
as the glowing orb peeks from the hills
lose yourself in the burning desert
where, in darkness, gives you chills

glory in the magnitude of mountains
the ever-watchful sentinels of old
its high-peaked tops amidst the clouds
touched by the light of gold

be at awe in the power of volcanoes
those fiery giants of the earth
whose mouths spew forth angry rocks
many islands it will give birth

high amongst the mountaintops
are flat plateaus you have never seen
and from there you will see a valley down below
where the land is evergreen

run in the great plains of the earth
where plants and flowers grow
and rest your feet under a shady tree
while watching the farmers sow

many things has God given us
many more He will provide
like the great wonders of Mother Earth
who stand through time with pride

as part of God’s creation
these things we must take care
for time might come that these wonders
later on may not be there.

this is an amazingly well written poem. i love all the different images and the way they are all described with such a different atmosphere. (my pome "long grass" isnt actually about death although thats what my best friend thought, i like that idea better than the one i had in mind which was about being loved nad the struggle to stay special to someone and the way you can feel comfortable around a person you know so well...doesnt come out very well in the poem at all.oh well...and thanx very much for the comment.)
