Friends

by Luke   Aug 2, 2005

How far
Is too far to go?
With a friend

What do they know?
What should they?
I mean, come on, after all
They aren’t YOU
They aren’t responsible
For what happens to YOU

But still honest
They beg you
And say they know
What it’s like
It sounds just fine…
But why trust?

If only because -
You’re in over you head,
Completely misread,
By words that shouldn’t have been said,
Wishing that you were dead?
Maybe

So they ask you -
“Is your life alright?”
but the question is -
“Are you really that tough?”

Friendship in life in inevidably the hardest thing in life to be certain of. Friends are backstabbing, they can be horrible, they can be sweet.
But in the end, your life will not be the same without them. Many of them feel special in being told about your tidings, yet in the end they care. Caring is a word, which you should bring your own meaning to.
I like this poem. It struck a deep cord in me. I, selfishly, can be the friend you described.

The vote for a two is out of order.

I like this piece. It is a 'making' sense of the insensible [?] It has a mellodramatic, very dreamy feel. As if one cannot grasp reality in its entirty.

The question is a very humbling one ... are we, or am I, really tough enough to face what I'm going through.

The answer is - we arent. Certainly we can be tough enough to a degree/stanza. But the only eternal 'toughness' is that which we have in Christ. It, in him, we have Alpha and Omega. [Begginning & End]

I hope your walk is going well - mine has been bitterly bumpy with my diagnosis. Blessings to you!
