Eyes To the Sea

by Corneleus   Aug 3, 2005

-Focus my contradicting heart-

The long, the restless ride home, I stay my course
Littered and trodden, on a path of memories and remorse
Only turning back to see what may have been
A place where I may have belonged
To a a time where I might have fit in

-Focus-
Think of what you say

Focus onward, ride on home to comfort
Home is a certainty
Not a question, not a guess, a feeling left to sort
But a constant reminder, an image of happiness and safety
The thing we held as what would always be

-Focus-
Don't fool yourself

Home is sanctuary no longer
Home does not hold the luster it once did
Now filled with hate, lies and deceit
Filled with so much fear and unknowing
Not comfort, understanding, warmth, nor love ever showing

No longer is this dream
Tears fill these weary eyes, I close in shame
How could this day have ever came?
Crest fallen, stricken with dread
I ask where to turn, what path lies ahead

-Focus-
Remember and recall

Our past may not be altered
So calm your heart, and do not falter
Focus to remember the bright glimmer of happiness
That I admit, I already do so miss
The one that gave me solace from my strife
From the recent pains in this life

And now, despite all things, my restless mind wanders to
A stranger who warmingly welcomed, who unknowingly comforted
To those piercing eyes highlighted by the sea
Enticing my weightless heart with her breath-taking beauty

Whether out of hopeless romance
Whether from lack of reason or sense
I know I want to give this uncertainty a fighting chance
To meet again, if only just to see
What I may bring this beautiful stranger
And what else may be in store for me

-Focus-

I must continue this restless onward ride
For with time this path will abide
A wandering heart with a place to call my home

Until then I turn my head towards the sea
Remembering the sunset, recalling the fire that grew
And those amazing sparks that flew
Focusing on finding this place where I want to be
Where once again I can happily be me
