A Soldiers Mind

by hunnibunnz   Aug 9, 2005

Does it deserve me?
Does it even know my name?
I'm sure I know who it is,
I used to play it as a game.

I'd run around in search of
Something big to destroy.
Now they run me around,
As though I'm their little toy.

As kids we would act like enemies,
And chase each other for hours.
Now our biggest enemy is
The terrorist that took our towers.

Why do I have to fight,
And lay my life on the line?
No one would give their life for me
So why should I have to give mine?

I'm an ordinary person
who is eventually going to die.
The way is unknown and that scares me,
if I said it didn't, that would be a lie.

Is anything here worth saving?
Is there anything worth fighting for?
Why do they choose to tell us nothing
And force us blindly to go to war?

We do have something special.
We do have something grand.
We have something no one else has,
We have freedom in our land!

I couldn't live anywhere else.
Where else could beat what I got?
I live in the best country in the world,
with very bold men that have fought.

They gave their lives for me,
So I could live as I do.
Why should I be selfish myself
And not fight for them too?
