Our Future Is In Our Children

by ~@ngel Whisperer~   Aug 10, 2005

There's so much pain and misery
in our world today.
Children are being abused and raped;
their childhoods taken away.
Their wounds are never healed,
just buried or pushed aside.
They'll never learn to face their fears,
just run away and hide.

Everyone has demons to overcome
and skeletons in their closet.
We walk around with hardened hearts
pretending not to know what caused it.
Like drones we are, carrying on
and surviving day to day.
Building up our grudges until somebody has to pay.

Children become parents and the pattern is renewed.
The pain just keeps on growing-
it can't be subdued.
Embrace all that's good in your life,
and learn from all you've endured,
look through the eyes of your children.
Let their love and their actions be pure.

So many souls are lost
in the evils of today.
We need to take charge of tomorrow and keep our enemies at bay.
Deception, lies and ignorance
keep us from our dreams.
All we do is feed our fears; it rips our lives at the seams.

Druggie moms and dead-beat dads struggle to make ends meet.
Never knowing that what they gave up could've made their lives complete.
Our children are our future,
that legacy is all we have.
Our purpose in this life,
is to set them upon their path.

We must let the seeds we sow
grow up in joy and woe.
Let them learn the truth
and see friend from foe.
Let them live to see better days
and prosper in their own ways.
Guide them to their own path
and they'll bask in the sun rays.
