School through the sport's star P.O.V. 3/15

by Ashleigh Skye   Aug 10, 2005

They think I have it so easy,
cause sports is where I excel,
they don't see me struggling through school,
just waiting for the bell.

They don't know I started running,
to avoid my drunken dad,
they don't know that he used to beat me,
even harder when he was mad.

They don't know I wanted to be an actor,
but was forced to take up track,
and when everyone saw how good I was,
there was no way I could turn back.

It went from track to sports,
anything they could find,
and they better I was at all of those,
the more my passion was left behind.

They don't understand when I'm running,
I'm back in a painful place,
which only makes me run harder,
if my demons I want to erase.

Every time I try to quit,
they simply ignore my cries,
and pull me back in deeper,
ignoring the pain in my eyes.

I run like the wind,
whenever I'm on the track,
because the faster I go,
the less I have to look back.

Everyone knows my name,
but no one knows the real me,
running down these cement halls,
as silently as can be.
