A "Thank You" Might Not Do

by Shelby G.   Aug 10, 2005

Never thought I'd have the strength
To stand on my own feet
Never thought I'd have the courage
To go ahead and speak
Never had the self esteem
To go ahead and dream
Someone push me farther, please
Cause I'm about to scream

I blinked away my salted tears
I blinked them all away
Though, that feeling of despair
Seems it had just stayed
I closed my eyes and shook my head
Holding back the tears
Took a breath and let it out
And shook away my fears

You brought something to my life
A thing we call a "heart"
You mended my soul and gave me a voice
Through my world which was torn apart
Thank you isn't good enough
For what you've done for me
I'd like to "show" you how I feel
So that you can see

I never thought I'd have the strength
To stand up on my feet
I never thought I'd have the courage
To go ahead and speak
But that was before uou gave me a taste
Of what I'd never had
You took away my will to die
And the feeling of being sad

Right before it came crashing down
You lifted all the weight
You took my feeling of depression and sorrow
And the feeling of bitter hate
You've done more for me that I'd ever dreamed
If only you could see
How much it means to have someone who cares
To truely believe in me

It means alot, and so much more
You don't have a clue
I'm not sure where I would be
If I didn't have you
And through these words, please understand
I mean all that I say
Thanks for everything you've done
And drying my tears away
