The queen of darkness (Blank Verse)

by Roulin   Aug 10, 2005

Night is rising like a shadow on tender prey,
And as the dark haired people of the hills say,
here comes the queen of darkness!'
Filling the world with ruling blackness.

Her long black cloak sweeps the land and sea,
With wolfish senses detecting any blasphemy,
A priest preaches on the highway as she turns,
Him with her bitter cold sword in hand burns.

The new religion pushes her to the brink,
Already she feels her great powers shrink,
So desperately she must now fight,
drawing rivers of blood and cling on tight.

Two armies come face to face on the snowy hill,
Both sides now fighting with screams that chill,
Chills through the air, chills through the snow,
Now the victorious side gives the final blow.

The queen whispers in the leaders bloodied ear,
Go back to the old ways she says so he can hear,
None can see her as she glides over the hill,
But the leader feels inclined to do her will.

The bold leaders name is now king Vortimir,
He is strong mighty and him all men fear,
As he destroys all of the new places of worship,
The queen smiles at the work of her lordship.

The queen is watching from her immortal land,
Now she holds Vortimirs mind firm in her hand,
Nothing can stop her desperate plan now,
No champion, no wizard no man that she'll allow.

It's late in the echoing veil of the night,
As the queen is with Vortimir and holds him tight,
A baby boy half-human and cruel will be made,
A hero for the queen but cruel as the black-shade.

He will hold the sword that can change all,
That with a swipe of it's blade an empire can fall,
Caliban, with a comet crudely cut in its form,
Is the start of a worldly fire storm.
