Sunrise

by laura   Aug 11, 2005

Sunrise, the day breaking
Light fiercely shining, many things unseen
The final sunrise is here

I lay cold and weak on the frosting ground
The morning revealing past events
The ones I cry for now

The sunlight makes the blood shine
Unquestionable to all around
The pain slowly fading away

Trying to disguise my expressionless face
Still my soul cries out
The knife resting next to me

My remaining strength clutches the note
Explaining my wrongful choice
My regretful sorrows roll down my face

The curtain is finally cast down
All secrets undone
The truth is spoken

Awesome poem! The flow is great and the imagery is brilliant! I really like the third stanza. Not only does it reveal more of the mystery, but I found it captivating. Also, it added to the intensity of the piece.

"My remaining strength clutches the note
    Explaining my wrongful choice
My regretful sorrows roll down my face"

The only criticism I have in this stanza, is the over usage of the word "my". Other than that it's superb.

I found the last stanza to be very powerful and concluded the poem quite nicely! Keep it up~Holly
