Where you left me.

by Alyson   Aug 11, 2005

Like a black and white photo, you haunt my wall.
I stare as everything we ever had falls to my feet.
Pieces upon pieces broken, shredded, thrown away.
Why does this not seem real?
Summer quickly defines the screw-ups in my life.
As threating as you are to me, I can take you down.
Lifeless and breathless, I know I have won.
Scared, and hurt, my emotions do not rest.
It's all coming back.
The hot breeze and the smell linger when your near me.
Helpless, I run.
My arms and legs flailing as if I'm being raped.
I'm screaming but I'm making no sound.
I've lost everything.
I do not want help, I do not want your sympathy.
I am stronger then you, I am stronger then most.
Emotionally, I am shattered, broken, lost
I will not turn back.
Defying gravity, it lets me fly away.
gazing at the stars, I see you,
the brightest one.
The one we have all learned to trust.
you broke that for me.
Backstabbed, I try and forget you.
Betrayed, I move on.
Only to cry on last time tonight.
To bring me back to where you left me..

Very good and very, very sad. I hope this isn't a true story. I loved where you wrote: "I do not want help, I do not want your sympathy.
I am stronger then you, I am stronger then most..."
Terrific work. And thank you for the comment on my poem. I really appreciated it:)
