Long Awaited Revenge

by Fighter (Ariane L.)   Aug 11, 2005

Darkness invades the house.
In the night, a sharp cry is heard.
Yet, the asleep hear not the sound.
For, they dream of their paradise.

She had just awoken
By the sound of footsteps downstairs.
Panicked, she listened.
Unable to move, she lay, frozen.

Hidden beneath the covers,
She held her scream.
The footsteps grew louder and louder.
Until they stopped at her door.

Unable to remove the covers,
Frozen with panic.
She hoped that the intruder
Would not open her door.

Yet, her hopes vanished
As the knob turned.
Alert to every sound,
Panic stricken.

She heard rustling at her feet
And a second later,
The covers left her body.
She lay, uncovered.

He stood, knife in hand.
Ready for his long awaited revenge.
Her scream pierced the night.
As darkness invaded her.
