I Simply Am.

by Fighter (Ariane L.)   Apr 13, 2008

The book is revealing one's soul once more.
The writer seems like a complete stranger.
I feel like she lives in the distant past,
Yet I cannot see my future without her.

She faded into the darkness in weakness.
She grew in moments of strength.
She learned to love herself.
She also began to see that others did also.

She wrote chaotic words,
That never really formed sentences.
Yet in those metaphors, images were born.
And a life was freed. A voice was awaken.

My soul has lost its power with words.
I have spoken my voice that once stood silent.
And I have no need for that voice today.
I am no longer a poet. I simply am.
And my world has never seemed more free.

Wow, when i first read it i thought maybe you had given up on poetry? but then i realised upon reading again, hopefuly, what i see to be the truth. that you are merely stating yourself as who you are and breaking from the shakles that the label binds you with. anyway i hope you are still writting. brilliant poem. take care

    I love that line.
"I am no longer a poet. I simply am."
Anyone, anywhere can use it to break free of what they feel they are stereotyped as. I can see myself using this line a million times in my life.
    Simply marvellous.
