Open Your Eyes

by BreatheNoMore   Aug 14, 2005

Touch you meekly
In your somber sleep
Watching as you swiftly
Fall from my trepedating defeat

Poisoned matrimony
Alienation
Segregation
Simple words for a monstrous predicament

What is it that you dream about
When you close your eyes so willingly
I close my eyes and what I feel
Encumbers me so unfathomably
Waiting for you to wake up
Wake up for the first time

Is it love?
Or is it addiction?
Lying alone in the dark
Waiting for you to show me that it’s just that easy
Like the commercials say to sell a product
If it were something I could really believe in
I’d remark, it’s just my luck

Cold and unsheltered
Breathing into the floor
A very strange addition
To the day before

Waiting for you to wake up
to open your eyes for the first time
