White Flags

by Jacklyn   Aug 19, 2005

A perfect “A” student,
At least she use to be,
Her grades went to C’s and D’s,
Ignored by adults, it’s just a teenage stage.
But inside Cindy cried,
No one saw the bullies in her life.
The pressure that rose so far,
Cindy raised her white flag of surrender,
But we were too busy so it went unnoticed and unanswered.

A real first broken heart,
Two whole years they shared love.
Mike still loves her though,
He tried to move on to someone else.
But his heart and soul ached for her smile.
Skipping days of school, no consideration,
He tried to win her love again, but she couldn’t have been any meaner.
Mike raised his white flag of surrender,
But we were too busy so it went unnoticed and unanswered.

Amanda was betrayed and lied to,
By her so-called “friends” at high school.
Who can she talk to? She has no one to confide in.
A kitchen knife went missing,
Her mother could find it but thought nothing of it.
Why would her daughter resort to that? She happy.
But crazy enough her daughter did.
Amanda raised her white flag of surrender,
But we were to busy so it went unnoticed and unanswered.

Here are just three examples.
Of all teens, just lost and scared,
Teen suicide is at it’s all time high,
But it’s all there for us to see.
The warnings, the flags the want of help,
The world is just so busy,
We don’t notice until it’s happened.
But then it’s to late and can’t do nothing,
So look for white flags and believe that it is possible.
But if we don’t change the world today, how high will the numbers increase each year?
