Shame-full

by Julia   Aug 20, 2005

I lied to you,
As I turned my back,
Was it shame which had led
To this useless attack?

Or an attempt to destroy,
Or perhaps betray you?
All I could enjoy
Were those things bright and new.

They arose like spring
In my ungrateful eyes,
A dreamy smile
So full of lies.

So you see me now,
Helpless... what could I do?
My breath had left somehow,
My bare back facing you.

I was naked, lost,
Could you even grasp?
All the things which had cost
An unattempted past.

Yet I stare through shadows,
At a face with no eyes
How could you bare to be freed
From this chain of lies?
