Summertime Song

It's just another day
And there's nothing left to say
Just the tune of my guitar
That can be heard from near and far

And as I strum my strings
The little birds begin to sing
And we all keep playin' along
To our mild, summer song

And as we played our summer tune
We heard the wind begin to croon
And the bees-- they started buzzin'
While my guitar I kept on strummin'

And the fish began to splash
Though the day was leaving fast
And when the sun began to set
It left nature and I most upset

But nature still played through the night
Even if there was no more light
And yes, I was still out there to play
For there was still nothing left to say

And then the dogs joined in with their howls
Along with a chorus of old, hooting owls
But then the wind came and hummed through the trees
Trying to put all of nature at ease

But nature and I still went and played
Until our song finally began to fade
But I'll never forget the day we played all night long
Our mild, our melodious, our summertime song
