Tell you no lie

by void.   Aug 25, 2005

Travel-worn, weathered and weary
From my long journeys
Far into the realm of Nowhere,
I whisper a shouted prayer
That someone might hear me.

My stolen words bite at my heels
Chasing me farther from Truth.
I pass a monk as he bows and kneels,
And wonder that the holy fleshy mound
Should see fit to ever touch this ground.

Applause passionlessly beats my head
Bow and curtsy, thank you, thank you,
Simple perfection, by what I\'ve read.
On the way out, I look back and stumble;
Smeared with common dirt, but I hold on to humble.

The bright memorials of my mind
Were stolen by your world-splitting words.
If morals stood not so high,
I might tell you no lie-
I\'d rather you gone than forget the sun shined.

The hope I need, the love you lost;
By perseverance, great sands are crossed.
What is a hand to the lone grain of sand?
The clock ticks now, but by whom was it wound?

    I think I go by the ones I understand the most. Sometimes I just pour out my feelings without understanding them. The ones I feature tend to be those that I have sat and pondered and muddled over before writing. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll feature this one. Glad you like it!
