The night

by Melissa Westfall   Aug 25, 2005

In the dark of the night I lie here awake.
The walls around me spin and spin until there’s no more I can take.
I try to close my eyes and drift to sleep.
But all I can seem to do is lay here and weep.
The memories of you linger in my head.
I ask myself why is it you that has to be dead?
The nights seem to be getting darker and cold.
For its you that I wish to hold.
I get up to go get the blade.
A cut on my wrist I have made.
As the blood covers the floor.
All I can think to do is cut a little more.
Then I return to my bed.
And all I do is wish I was dead.
