The Girl and Her Wall

by Jessica Grant   Aug 28, 2005

There once was a girl
Who was hurt many ways
So she built up a wall
To hide her from what people say

She worked very hard
To keep it up and strong
She never knew that this wall
Would crumble after long

She thought she was safe
From all the deceits and lies
She just kept up the wall
And never gave anyone a try

Till one day she met a guy
She thought it was all the same
So she kept her wall up
To keep her safe from his game

But the guy brought a chisel
And put holes in her wall
This girl she got scared
She was worried she'd fall

She didn’t like how close he was getting
She didn’t want to let him in
She knew she'd get hurt
And that’s what mattered in the end

But for some reason he still worked
And she was beginning to lose
Lose all grip she had
On not getting used

She was starting to trust him
And that scared her a lot
She didn’t want to be let down
Or to become caught

This guy he still works
And is breaking in slow
But sooner or later
She'll have to let go

She has to learn
That not all people are bad
She's gotta give someone a try
Who knows she might end up glad
