Mommy, I want to be like her

by Jessica Grant   Oct 15, 2005

"Mommy look at her"
And she points her finger to the screen
"I want to look like that someday
Its my one and only dream"

"Why do you want to look like that"
The mom says to her daughter
"Your beautiful just as you are"
And then she takes a sip of water

"I don't care I want to look like that"
The daughter says with a whine
"Just wait and see I will someday"
and the mother smiles and says "Fine"

Thats the conversation
The mother plays over in her head
While sitting in a hospital room
And her daughter lays unconcious on the bed

The mother never thought
That the day would end like this
"Get some breakfast before you leave"
Is what she said this morning with a kiss

The mother looks back to that day
When her daughter said those words
"I wish I could have helped you out
and took heart to what I heard"

The mother blames herself
That her daughter did not see
The beauty the mother saw within
And that this is what her daughter came to be

The mothers not to blame though
Nor can you blame the daughter for what she saw
Because today were taught thin is in
And that fat is were you find the flaw
