He Did Once Live

by Angel Sanctuary ©   Aug 31, 2005

Today is a gray day
Death filled this room
My grandfather’s memories remains
But him, he passed away

I could be dark
Each line could be death
But, he once lived
And that is what needs to be said

He lived a life not like most
His life has been surrounded by death
Yet he lived and lived on he did

He survived the Holocaust
Battled the German in WWII
He fought for us
Became the CIA

He married and had a family
That is were I come to play
Daughter of his eldest son
Ted; who’s name he proudly gave him

Today is a gray day
But a day to remember
That he did live
Though the rough times and the good times

If I were to speak for him now
He would ask me to smile
Go in the pool and play
“It was good” he said.

========================
To my grandfather
