Because They Were Different

by dollwithafrown   Sep 3, 2005

See that boy lying on the ground
He's relaxing after his latest fix
His whole life people have looked down on him
So now this is his life... it's nothing

Each night is engrossed with drugs and drink
He lives his life the only way he knows how
He does what he wants and doesn't care for the outcome
But still, everyone who sees him thinks he's nothing but trash

He's different from them

See that girl sitting on the school bench
Another day of teasing, being picked on and spat at
And why? She doesn't know, can you tell her?
Nobody wants to be her friend, she's alone

That bench is her very own position in P.E.
She's always at the side of things, never actually in them
She asks herself each day why this happens to her
But still, everybody thinks she's nothing but pathetic

She's different from them

See that boy, yep that's the one
The one in the smart suit in the big building
Who would know he was once looked down on?
Now he's got a job, got money and for once, a life

He got his life on track
Got rid of the drugs, got rid of the drink
He turned his life around all by himself
Why were people so surprised?

Because he was different

That girl over there, yeah the doctor
Saving lives every day, helping people
So she isn't good at sports or running
But people look up to her, because of herself

Nobody wanted to be her friend when she was younger
So she put all her time and effort into her work
Look where she is now
Better than all of the bullies put together

Because she was different
