Phone Call From A Friend

by Renee   Sep 6, 2005

When I answered the phone, your voice was a choke
there's crying in my ear, is this some kind of joke?
"listen, just calm down" but who am I saying this to?
Caller ID must be broken, it couldn't possibly be you.

"I, I just need words.." your voice, but so weak.
"I need you to reassure me that life isn't so bleak"
trying to retain shock, let my disbeleif subside,
I'm starting to talk, putting all truth to the side.

"There's got to be something holding you up in this world
a friend, or a passion, or perhaps ...a girl?"
"There's something in the words you just said
If I didn't know better, I'd think they're from right out my head."

I sat and contemplated what the hell you were on about
as deadly confessions were pouring out your mouth.
But there's something in these sentences that isn't quite right,
and your tone, it just seems, so vulnerable tonight.

As I catch the last few whispers from quivering lips
I could've sworn you said something about what a bi.tch life is
and how 'a girl can absorb every word she's heard,
and not know that every thought in between is about her.'

-*- let me know if this confuses you. It's basically about a guy who's having a hard time so he calls his best friend, who he happened to fall in love with and almost tells her.-*-

Wow, i just love the way you put your words together, so unique and diffrent yet they have strong meanings. you draw really good pictures of the situation in the poems in ppls heads. i love how you say things without really saying them directly, awsome..
