Unrequitted love

by redscream   Sep 7, 2005

Love is a word
but little more;
Or so I thought.
I held in little store.

That word came round
then turned to feeling.
My conscious thoughts
turned to reeling.

You've spun my world
but I was mistaken.
For those words from my lips
have left you shaken.

You know not of love
as you think you do.
For then you'd see me
as I see you.

A shooting star
on an oh-so-dark night.
A wounded bird
so close to flight.

Those things you yearn for
and can't explain.
That wonderful gift
that causes such pain.

To live with myself
after what I've done
Is to go to the circus
and pretend at fun.

To know I've caused you
so very much grief
Makes my heart
feel such a thief.

To have stolen your love
and thrown it away;
Not only to have done so,
but in such a careless way.

I fear for good,
your heart I have lost
And thrown away
your guarded trust.

Just know one thing-
my heart you did steal.
My love you have forever
if you only choose to feel.
