Innocent

by Ali   Sep 10, 2005

She's so young,
so pure and innocent,
so small,
a child cradled by love,

Her mind is so young,
Naive and questioning,
eager to learn,
eager to grow,

On the stairs of life,
she's ready to step up,
She wants to move up,
But not to high and not too soon,

I wish i could hold her back,
By her small shoulders,
Keep her delicate little feet,
On the bottom step,

I watch her,
and know the days are numbered,
before her eye are opened,
before she reaches the next step,

Soon she'll see the darkness,
Soon she'll understand,
Soon she'll realize,
how hard life can be,

Her childhood will be torn away,
shattered and crushed,
washed away,
by the tides of time,

Will it hurt her?
crush her,
and suffocate her?
Will it take the light from her eyes?

She sits on the rocks,
singing her song,
her straw colored hair flying in the wind,
her eyes reflecting the water,

her mind far away,
among flowers and birds,
supernatural beings,
people from her dreams,

Her life so careless,
so fun,
relaxing and happy,
so simple,

i wait by her side,
dreading the moment,
when things will clear up,
ready to ctahc her if she falls,

shes so young,
inocent and pure,
so small,
a child on the edge of growing up.

O ali! don't worry dear, everyone grows up. but damn i wish they didn't. to stay a child...how beautifull. i liked the poem a lot! it really described ur feelings for her. (annie right?) if i HAVE to critisize...i'd say that you could probably add a little more discriptevness. like...the transition...jeese idk how to put it...well it rocked!
