4 year anniversary

by Heather   Sep 12, 2005

Do you remember 4 years ago,
When the red, white, and blue turned gray?
Were you out there fighting for our freedom,
And letting our country stay that way?

Our soldiers died 4 years ago,
I burnt a candle when i heard.
I watched T.V all day that day,
I listened to every voice and every word.

Was I there when the world stopped turning,
Or was I with my friends?
No, I was watching our soldiers on the news,
Trying to turn a sad beginning to a happy end.

There are things we take for granted,
And I think freedom is one.
We run around and goof off,
Like freedom is supposed to be fun.

What about the soldiers,
Do they think it's some sort of game?
There's another war going on,
Is it different or the same?

Are we fighting for our country,
And what's the purpose of this war?
Are we bringing our soldiers home safe again,
Just like we did before?

Please tell me because I want to know,
I'm and American and I'm curious,
I'm not goofing off this time,
This time I'm being serious.

Our flag will remain red, white, and blue,
Let this be a lesson that is true.
I will pray for these soldiers fighting the war,
And they will be home safe again, Just like before.

I am saying this on behalf,
Of all Americans about.
Now I've said my peace,
And can blow my candle out.
