What Defines Me?

I have done many things in my life
All of them shaping who I am today
The things that I do now
Help drive who I will be

Which things help define me?
Is it the poetry that touches others?
Could it be the unspeakable from my past?
Is one event more defining than another?

These things I may never know
One thing I am sure of
The love I share today
Shapes my life for tomorrow

I have discovered a capacity to love
She has shown me how to be loved
My world and my life has changed yet again
As each day passes life is better than before

We cannot live for the past
Tomorrow we cannot count on
Today is all there is
And the promise of tomorrow

All things that define me
Can be shaped and changed today
The promise of tomorrow
Driven by life and love today
