The Dance

Finally it was homecoming night.
I want it all to be just right.
I couldn't wait to see him there,
I had a date, but didn't care.

We open the doors to the gym.
My eyes wondered in search of him.
Slow music started to play loud-
After a while, i just looked down.

Tonight i hoped to get the chance,
for us to have a single dance.
Outa nowhere he grabbed my hand.
My knees grew weak, i couldn't stand.

The # of slow songs was always 2.
The DJ played three songs this time through.
Dancing close is what we did,
I think im falling for this kid.

The dancing was great, it was bliss-
Then he gave me a goodnite kiss.
Looking back now it makes me sad,
To think of those good times we've had.
